Skills
Must have
- 3+ years of hands-on software QA or test automation experience, including practical performance testing; equivalent demonstrated capability is acceptable.
- Ability to design and execute baseline, regression, load, stress, scalability, and endurance tests; define metrics, acceptance thresholds, and repeatability controls.
- Programming proficiency in Python or Java, with ability to develop maintainable automated tests, scripts, and result-processing utilities; willingness to work in Python/Pytest.
- Hands-on investigation of CPU, memory, disk I/O, latency, throughput, and network metrics; ability to distinguish product regressions from environmental variability.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, Git, CI/CD (preferably Jenkins), structured test reporting, and defect tracking.
- Understanding of Windows/Linux systems, virtualization fundamentals, and storage/networking concepts.
- Clear technical communication, independent troubleshooting, reproducible evidence collection, and cross-team collaboration
Nice to have
- Performance testing of backup, restore, replication, storage, data transfer, or other I/O-intensive products.
- VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Proxmox, Nutanix, or similar virtualization platforms.
- S3-compatible object storage (e.g., Wasabi), SMB/NFS repositories, snapshots, CBT/RCT, compression, or deduplication.
- Python, Pytest, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit/TestNG, or API-driven automation frameworks.
- Experience with dashboards, time-series monitoring, Linux utilities (iostat, vmstat, sar), Windows Performance Monitor, and log analysis.
- Practical use of AI coding assistants to generate or review tests, investigate failures, and summarize results with human validation.

The Job
- Create performance test plans and test matrices for full/incremental backup, backup copy, full recovery, and relevant repository/storage scenarios.
- Execute controlled baseline-versus-candidate comparisons; record duration, effective throughput, data volume, CPU, memory, network, and storage I/O metrics.
- Build and maintain Python/Pytest automation and supporting scripts for test setup, job orchestration, metric collection, result comparison, reporting, and cleanup.
- Validate test environment readiness (source workload, transporter, repository, network, capacity) before interpreting performance results.
- Investigate performance regressions using logs and metrics; reproduce issues, identify likely bottlenecks, and partner with developers to validate fixes.
- Run concurrency, scalability, and endurance studies; document resource saturation, limits, and performance trends.
- Integrate automated checks into CI/CD and publish concise reports with build information, configurations, pass/fail criteria, and supporting evidence.
- Apply AI-assisted techniques where beneficial, review generated code and findings, and maintain reliability, confidentiality, and test reproducibility.
- Coordinate with manual QA, automation QA, development, and infrastructure teams; maintain test data and ensure reliable post-test cleanup
