Pest & Wildlife Service Technician
Louisville, Kentucky | Full-Time | Starts at $19 per hour | Paid Training and Sales Opportunities
Tailor Made Pest & Wildlife is hiring a reliable and motivated Pest & Wildlife Service Technician to join our growing Louisville team. This is a full-time, field-based position for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, helping customers, and taking pride in quality work. Tailor Made operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so schedules may fluctuate based on customer demand and operational needs. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekdays, weekends, and after-hours coverage as assigned.
About Tailor Made Pest & Wildlife
Tailor Made Pest & Wildlife is a locally owned, fast-growing company serving Louisville and surrounding communities. We provide long-term pest-control programs, prevention, customer protection plans, and specialized wildlife services for residential and commercial customers.
Our mission is to deliver peace of mind by diagnosing and solving pest and wildlife issues through tailored, thorough, and reliable service. We approach every situation with care, professionalism, and a commitment to doing the job right every time. We value dependable employees who take ownership of their work, communicate clearly, and want to build a long-term career.
About the Position
The primary responsibility of this position is servicing recurring residential and commercial pest-control accounts. You will inspect properties, identify pest activity and conditions contributing to infestations, perform appropriate treatments, educate customers, and help maintain strong customer relationships. You will be responsible for managing a daily route efficiently, completing appointments on time, maintaining accurate service records, and delivering quality work that reduces preventable callbacks.
This position also includes assessments, quoting, and in-field sales. You may conduct scheduled pest and wildlife assessments, identify problems and entry points, explain your findings, recommend appropriate solutions, prepare estimates within company guidelines, and confidently ask customers for the sale. During routine service visits, you will be expected to recognize legitimate opportunities for additional services and help customers address problems that may not be covered by their current service plan.
Wildlife control and exclusion work will be taught over time. As your training and skills develop, you may assist with wildlife inspections, trapping, removal, exclusion projects, and specialty services. No previous pest-control or wildlife experience is required. We provide paid training for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
You will perform scheduled pest-control services for residential and commercial customers and treat for ants, spiders, cockroaches, wasps, rodents, and other common pests within your training and licensing. You will inspect properties for pest activity, wildlife concerns, entry points, conducive conditions, and other risk factors. All products must be applied safely and according to product labels, applicable requirements, and company standards.
You will also conduct scheduled assessments and inspections, document your findings with clear notes and photographs, and help customers understand the problem, associated risks, and available solutions. You will prepare or present quotes according to company pricing and approval guidelines, answer customer questions, address reasonable concerns, and confidently ask for the sale.
During service visits, you will look beyond the immediate treatment and identify legitimate opportunities for additional services. These opportunities may include recurring pest-control programs, rodent control, wildlife trapping and removal, exclusion work, sealing entry points, cleanup, sanitation, repairs, or other appropriate protection services. Recommendations must be based on actual customer needs and presented honestly without using pressure, exaggeration, or unnecessary fear.
You will be expected to build professional relationships, earn customer trust, follow up on open estimates when assigned, and contribute to company production, customer retention, and revenue goals. Selling is part of the position, but every recommendation must support the customer’s needs and Tailor Made’s commitment to doing the job correctly.
As you become trained in wildlife work, you may help inspect buildings, set traps, remove wildlife safely and humanely, and seal entry points using metal, hardware cloth, caulk, foam, and other approved materials. This work may require climbing ladders, working on roofs, entering attics and crawlspaces, using hand and power tools, and working outdoors in changing weather.
You will communicate regularly with office staff and management, collect and properly record customer payments when assigned, and keep your company vehicle, equipment, products, and materials clean and organized. You will be expected to follow all safety procedures, company instructions, licensing requirements, pricing guidelines, and service-quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
The right candidate will be dependable, punctual, honest, professional, and comfortable working without constant supervision. You should be able to manage a daily route, follow instructions, communicate with customers, accept coaching, and ask for help when needed. You must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet company and insurance driving requirements.
You should be comfortable discussing customer needs, explaining recommendations, presenting prices, and asking for the sale. We are looking for someone who can build trust and identify opportunities without overselling. Previous sales experience is helpful, particularly in home services, route service, construction, pest control, or another customer-facing trade, but we will train a strong candidate who demonstrates confidence, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
You must be willing to maintain scheduling flexibility because Tailor Made Pest and Wildlife serves customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Work schedules may change based on customer appointments, emergency service needs, seasonal demand, route coverage, and other operational requirements. Specific scheduling and coverage expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.
You should also be comfortable working outdoors, entering occupied homes and businesses, and performing physical work. This position regularly involves driving, walking, standing, carrying equipment and materials, climbing ladders, using tools, and working in outdoor conditions. Depending on the assignment, you may also work on roofs and in attics, crawlspaces, and other tight areas. These essential duties must be performed safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Experience in pest control, wildlife control, route service, construction, roofing, general maintenance, landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or another skilled trade is helpful but not required. More important than previous industry experience is a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, good judgment, and the ability to represent the company professionally.
Compensation and Benefits
This position starts at $19 per hour based on relevant experience and qualifications. Tailor Made provides paid training and assistance with required licensing and certifications. Additional opportunities include performance-based raises, sales bonuses under the applicable company plan, Paid Time Off, a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan, supplemental health benefits, and opportunities for career advancement. Benefit eligibility, waiting periods, and plan terms apply.
Strong performers may have opportunities to develop into advanced wildlife control, exclusion, specialty service, sales, assessment, or leadership positions.
What Success Looks Like
Successful technicians show up prepared, complete their routes safely and efficiently, communicate professionally, and deliver thorough service with minimal preventable callbacks. They take ownership of their route, vehicle, equipment, documentation, estimates, and customer commitments. They continue learning, accept feedback, and follow through when problems arise.
Success also means conducting thorough assessments, identifying customer needs, preparing accurate quotes, confidently presenting solutions, and asking for the sale. Strong technicians recognize appropriate opportunities during service visits, follow up on open estimates when assigned, and contribute to sales growth without sacrificing honesty, service quality, or customer trust.
We are looking for someone who can protect customer accounts, create additional value, and contribute to the company’s production, customer retention, and responsible revenue growth.
This Position May Not Be a Match If
This role may not be the right fit if you struggle with dependable attendance, have limited scheduling flexibility, dislike physical or outdoor work, need continuous supervision, or are uncomfortable communicating directly with customers. It may also not be a good match if you avoid discussing prices, presenting recommendations, identifying additional service opportunities, or asking customers for the sale.
This position requires employees to follow safety procedures, licensing requirements, documentation standards, pricing guidelines, and company instructions. It is not a fit for someone who is unwilling to follow established processes or who prioritizes making a sale over providing an honest and appropriate customer solution.
Why Join Tailor Made?
At Tailor Made, you are not simply filling a route or spraying for bugs. You will solve real problems that protect people’s homes and businesses. You will learn valuable trade skills, develop your customer-service and sales abilities, and grow with a company that values professionalism, accountability, quality, and opportunity.
If you are dependable, hardworking, comfortable serving customers, and motivated to build a career with a growing Louisville company, apply today. Please submit your resume or work history and tell us why this position interests you.
