Job Description
The Radio Device System Engineer will work with commercial off-the-shelf ICs as well as custom CMOS technologies to develop RF transceiver systems to be utilized in hi-reliability public safety communications equipment. This position will be one of a team of advanced technologists that will conceive, design and implement radio systems with off-the-shelf semiconductor devices as well as custom mixed signal digital, RF and analog circuits and subsystems using robust design methodologies for deployment in two way radio equipment. The completed RF transceiver systems are intended for use in Motorola Solutions radio products.
The following are activities related to this job and require prior experience:
- System Architecture & Definition: Translate product-level radio requirements into comprehensive architectural specifications for mixed-signal SoCs including antenna tuners, PLLs, fractional multi-loop synthesizers, ADCs and DACs, baseband and RF amplifiers/filters, AGC sub systems, digital state machines, embedded microprocessors, memories, memory interfaces. Must be able to communicate and work with radio product development hardware and software architects to achieve product level requirements.
- System Level Modeling: Develop behavioral system models to accurately determine and manage block level specs for a radio modem lineup including hardware, firmware and software components. Arbitrate block level spec adjustments throughout the design process to accomplish the overall system performance goals on finished silicon and complete radio product implementation.
