Full description
Who are we?
Mangrove Lithium, a Vancouver based company, has developed a breakthrough platform for the most cost-effective production of battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate from diverse input streams and assets. Mangrove’s modular solution can be scaled to any capacity and co-located with upstream lithium producers, battery recyclers, or battery manufacturers. The company has attracted funding from Canada Growth Fund, Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures, BDC Capital and BMW I Ventures. The Company has a highly experienced leadership team with a track record of successfully commercializing and deploying industrial technologies and is working towards the deployment of a first-of-a-kind commercial plant.
About the Role
Mangrove is seeking an exceptional individual to play a key role in their multidisciplinary engineering team. The Pyrometallurgical Lead will lead the design and optimization of pyrometallurgical processes for spodumene concentrate conversion to lithium chemicals (lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate) projects. This role is based in Vancouver/Delta, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership during feasibility studies, FEED, detailed engineering, commissioning, and ramp-up.
- Oversee selection, sizing, and operation of kilns, calciners, and associated equipment and owning the vendor relationship.
- Conduct lab-scale and pilot-scale test work for process development.
- Develop and validate mass and energy balances, heat transfer models, and process flow diagrams (PFDs/P&IDs).
- Analyze process data to improve efficiency, recovery, and energy consumption.
- Support integration between pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical plant sections.
- Drive process efficiency improvements, including energy consumption reduction and heat recovery systems.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical capability development.
