- Work with the Head of Product to shape payment product roadmaps and priorities using merchant needs, operational issues, commercial value and delivery constraints.
- Run discovery workshops with merchants, Operations, Finance, Sales, Risk, Compliance and technology teams; define business problems, scope, success measures and agreed process improvements.
- Produce and maintain business and functional specifications, user stories, process flows, data mappings and testable acceptance criteria; obtain stakeholder approval and maintain requirements traceability.
- Define payment lifecycle requirements covering merchant onboarding, payment acceptance, pre-authorisation, capture, voids, partial and full refunds, disputes, recurring payments and mandates, as applicable to each product.
- Work with Finance and Operations to specify settlement, payouts, reconciliation and exception handling, including authoritative transaction records, financial controls and reporting requirements.
- Define integration behaviour with architects and developers: API fields, validation, webhooks, status transitions, timeouts, retries, duplicate prevention and failure recovery for merchant, bank and payment partner integrations.
- Maintain a prioritised backlog with the Head of Product and delivery teams; lead refinement, clarify dependencies, assess change impacts and resolve requirement gaps before and during development.
- Analyse existing systems and workflows to support technical debt reduction and migration; document current and target behaviour, data conversion needs and compatibility requirements.
- Partner with QA and business users on test coverage and user acceptance testing, including financial exceptions and failure scenarios; resolve defects against agreed requirements and coordinate business sign-off.
- Translate security, privacy and applicable payment compliance requirements into functional controls with the responsible teams; define access permissions, audit trails and data handling requirements.
- Prepare product and integration documentation, operational procedures and release handovers; support merchant adoption, monitor agreed product outcomes and use production feedback to improve subsequent releases.
