We are seeking a Production Engineer responsible for improving and sustaining production processes to reliably meet quality, cost, delivery and safety targets. This role partners with industrial, quality, process, and product engineering to increase throughput, reduce variability, implement reliable equipment and tooling, and support new product introductions. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with hands on manufacturing experience and continuous improvement discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze current production processes and line layouts to identify capacity, bottlenecks, and waste; propose and implement improvements to increase throughput and reduce cycle time.
- Lead root cause investigations for recurring defects or downtime using structured methods (5 Whys, fishbone, 8D, FMEA) and drive sustained corrective actions.
- Validate, improve, and optimize process flows, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operator training materials.
- Implement and maintain process controls and statistical process control (SPC) systems; collect and analyze production data to monitor capability and trends.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and product transfers.
- Collaborate with other engineering departments to identify need for, design, or specify tooling, fixtures, gauges and test equipment for production.
- Work with automation and controls teams to identify opportunities for improvement of automation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by proposing medium to large scope projects, preparing cost/benefit notes, and implementing under engineer guidance.
- Coordinate with quality engineering to define inspection criteria, first article inspection (FAI), and corrective/preventive actions.
- Provide technical support to production during escalations, launches, and high impact events; coach and mentor production staff on technical topics.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in manufacturing processes.
- Track and report key manufacturing metrics (OEE, first pass yield, throughput, scrap rate, downtime) and present improvement plans.
- Train and guide engineering technicians and senior operators on engineering methodologies to better support and control production operations.
