Professor in Artificial Intelligence

Professor in Artificial IntelligenceDepartment: Computer Science

Grade: Competitive Package

Closing date: Open Until Filled

The University of Bath invites applications for a full Professor in Artificial Intelligence. You will be part of the AI & Machine Learning group within the Department of Computer Science. We’re particularly looking for candidates with research strength in a core area of AI, such as generative models, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, AI verification and AI security and assurance.

The AI & Machine Learning group is a key strength of the department, highly regarded internationally and successful in research publication and grant capture. Our research and our strong industry connections give the group clear routes to impact, with applications including healthcare and AI for science. The group also provides research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We are a highly collaborative team, working with other research groups in our department, across the university and beyond, including leading the newly launched Bath Centre for AI.

We welcome applications from established Professors and also from Readers, Senior Lecturers and Associate Professors or equivalent who can demonstrate a significant upward trajectory and readiness to take the next step. Key attributes of the successful candidate will be the capacity and enthusiasm for providing strategic leadership and the ability to influence and shape the activities, outputs and visibility of the department.

As a department, we will offer you support and growth opportunities, including career mentoring and opportunities to progress, manage and lead. You will offer us a strong academic record and the ability and enthusiasm to enhance our research environment and outputs, to create engaging experiences for our excellent students and to grow into leadership roles in the department and beyond.

If you have any questions or you would like to talk informally about the role, please contact Professor Eamonn O’Neill, Head of Department, or Professor Özgür Simsek, Head of the AI & Machine Learning research group.

We operate a rolling recruitment process; applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and the role will remain open until filled.
