Must have
- Hands-on experience with the Azure AI platform — Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Search, and Azure AI Foundry — used to build a retrieval-augmented or natural-language application that real users depen
- Working command of the surrounding Azure stack: compute, storage, managed databases, secrets, and Microsoft Entra ID as a consumer of it.
- Proficiency in Python, and strong skills in TypeScript with a modern frontend framework.
- REST API design, and strong SQL against relational databases and cloud data platforms.
- Practical understanding of AI application patterns — RAG, embeddings and vector search, semantic layers, tool calling, evaluation, and grounding.
- Strong Git and collaborative development practice, including CI/CD and written documentation.
- Ability to work in an unfamiliar codebase and cloud environment: read it, extend it safely, and document what you find.
- Comfort in an early-stage, start-up-style team — owning work independently and shaping process where none exists yet.
Nice to have
- Experience at a start-up, or on a founding or early-stage product team.
- Azure certification — Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Developer Associate, or equivalent.
- Experience building a centralized knowledge platform, internal data portal, or enterprise search product, including permission-aware retrieval.
- Experience with semantic or metric layers over a data warehouse.

Position Summary
We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to build a centralized knowledge platform for our partner organizations — a single, role-aware entry point consolidating reporting, a strategy library, and operational applications into one product. We need a driven, curious, and innovative engineer focused on building systems for all NBA teams to leverage in driving revenue, efficiencies and fandom.
You will drive features end to end — interface, API, and the data behind them — in Python and modern JavaScript or TypeScript, Microsoft Azure, and AI semantic layers built on the Azure AI platform. This is a build-from-here role with a start-up character inside a large organization: reading unfamiliar systems, empowered decision making and creating institutional product knowledge as you build at scale.
Major ResponsibilitiesPRODUCT ENGINEERING
- Design, build, and ship features end to end — Nuxt-based interfaces, Python backend services deployed as Azure services, REST APIs, and the data models beneath them.
- Build search, tagging, and content discovery, including role-aware views that show each organization only what it should see.
- Write and optimize SQL across the data ecosystem; build connectors and migration pipelines that move an enterprise document library into a structured, tagged repository at volume.
AZURE AI & SEMANTIC LAYER
- Build AI semantic layer on the Azure AI platform — retrieval-augmented search and natural-language querying using Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI models.
- Design the ingestion path that makes content retrievable: chunking, embedding, security trimming, and index maintenance.
- Drive enablement of business skills, advanced analytics modeling, and fan activation tools within team business platforms.
PLATFORM & WAYS OF WORKING
- Share ownership of Azure environments, CI/CD, monitoring, and enterprise identity integration with the engineering team.
- Work to engineering team standards — Git and code review, automated testing, containerized local development — and document features, data flows, and inherited configuration as you go.
- Partner with product management and communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues across marketing, business operations, and analytics.
Required Education / Professional Experience
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience shipping production web applications as part of an engineering team, including both user-facing interfaces and the services behind them.
- Demonstrated experience building and running applications on Microsoft Azure, including at least one production workload using Azure AI services.
