Python Automation Engineer - Optical Networking

Role Overview:

As an Optical Product Test Engineer specializing in Software Automation, you will be responsible for validating complex optical networking products through automation, network protocol testing, and manufacturing test software development. The role requires expertise in Python-based test automation, Layer 1/Layer 2 networking, IXIA traffic generation, and close collaboration with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities:Test Automation & Validation:

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases using Python.

• Perform Functional, Regression, and Performance Testing on Layer 1 and Layer 2 network systems.

• Design and enhance automation frameworks for product validation.

• Debug and resolve issues in complex networking environments.

Networking & System Validation:

• Validate hardware and software integration with optical interfaces, transceivers, and network switches.

• Configure and operate traffic generators such as IXIA to simulate real-world network environments.

• Verify Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking functionality, performance, and reliability.

Manufacturing Test Automation:

• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop test software for high-volume optical component manufacturing.

• Own manufacturing test scripts, including creation, maintenance, and change management.

• Improve manufacturing yield, efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization.

Data & Systems Integration:

• Collaborate with Software, IT, and Database teams to develop scalable manufacturing test data solutions for test data collection, logging, analysis, and reporting.

Quality Processes:

• Document test cases, execution results, and defects.

• Maintain test assets in version control systems such as GitHub, Bitbucket, or SVN.

Required Qualifications:Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.

Experience:

• 4 - 8 years of experience in Software Testing, Test Automation, Optical Networking Products, and Network Product Validation.

Mandatory Technical Skills:Programming & Automation:

• Python, Python Test Automation, Automation Framework Development, Shell Scripting, OOP Concepts.

Networking:

• Layer 1/2 Networking, TCP/IP, Ethernet, Network Switch Validation, Network Protocol Testing.

Traffic Generation & Validation:

• IXIA, Traffic Generators, Network Performance Testing.

CI/CD & Version Control:

• Jenkins/ArgoCD, Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, SVN.

Debugging & Validation:

• Root Cause Analysis, Defect Analysis, Functional, Regression, and Performance Testing.
