The Quality Assurance Engineer Role.
Our customers rely on Reality Defender to make high-stakes calls in real time — whether the voice on a bank's phone line or the face in a job interview is real. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll make sure what we ship holds up to that standard, testing our APIs, SDKs, web app, and real-time integrations, and building the automation that lets us release faster without breaking things. This is a full-time role based at our NYC headquarters or remote within the U.S., reporting to Quality Assurance Lead. Responsibilities include:
- Own test planning and execution for assigned product areas — APIs, SDKs, the web app, and real-time voice and video integrations — from requirements review through release sign-off.
- Build and maintain automated test suites (API, end-to-end, and regression) and integrate them into our CI/CD pipelines.
- Find, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, severity, and impact, and work with engineers through to resolution.
- Test the reliability and performance of real-time detection under realistic conditions — latency, load, varied audio and video quality, and different platforms and devices.
- Help maintain the test data and media sets used to validate each release.
- Partner with the AI Research and Red Team to support model release validation and regression testing.
- Help Customer Support and Solutions Engineering reproduce and triage customer-reported issues.
- Contribute to QA standards, documentation, and release checklists across the engineering team.
Who you are.
- 3+ years of experience in software QA or quality engineering, testing web applications and APIs in a fast-moving release environment.
