Radar Systems Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Radar Systems Engineer to solve radar-related challenges across our missile development portfolio at both system and subsystem levels. You will translate weapon system requirements into radar specifications and develop and validate solutions that enable autonomous flight, precision targeting, and reliable detection.

At Frankenburg, you’ll join a professional team of experts in technology and defence, developing next-generation missile systems for the free world. In a fast-paced environment, your work will have a direct impact on the performance and success of these systems. If you’re driven by innovation and real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• System Development & Delivery

Lead concept definition, design, analysis, testing, qualification, and contract execution for advanced radar systems in missile applications.

• Supplier & Subcontractor Management

Manage technical subcontractors and suppliers, define scopes of work, review deliverables, and ensure alignment with schedule, cost, and quality targets.

• Requirements Engineering

Develop and maintain technical requirement specifications, translating mission needs into measurable performance, safety, and reliability criteria.

• Integration & Interfaces

Collaborate with performance, systems, and integration engineers to optimise interfaces, resolve trade-offs, and produce comprehensive interface control documents (ICDs).

• Verification, Testing & Documentation

Drive development of technical documentation, lead design reviews, and coordinate test plans, risk assessments, failure mode analyses, and certification activities with suppliers.

We Would Love You to Have

• Educational Background

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Radar Systems, Communications, Applied Physics, or a related field. Specialisation in radar technology or signal processing is an advantage.

• Experience

Relevant experience in radar or RF, ideally within defence, aerospace, or similarly demanding environments; expertise in managing subcontractors and coordinating the project lifecycle from concept to delivery.

• Technical Expertise

Solid understanding of radar principles, signal processing, and electronic circuit design, with experience in developing complex systems.

• Soft Skills

Proactive and solution-oriented, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Delivery focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

• Mission Alignment

Strong alignment with our mission to build affordable and mass-manufacturable defence technologies — ensuring every euro spent moves us closer to our goal.

• Security Clearance

Willingness to undergo a background check as a condition of employment.

Our Values

Our mission is ambitious, and it takes a team that works with the same intensity.

• Own the Mission: Mission first. Always.

We choose impact — we focus on what moves the mission forward fastest instead of “nice-to-haves". We fix it now — when delays or problems appear, we step up, rally the right people, and solve them immediately. We keep momentum — when time matters, we stay focused and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.

• Strive for More: Dare more. Do more. Achieve the impossible.

We challenge the status quo — we question, test, and improve instead of accepting “the usual way.” We embrace discomfort — we step outside comfort zones and turn challenges into growth. We anticipate the future — we build solutions that scale and set higher standards each time.

• Build with Trust: Be open. Keep promises.

We walk the talk — what we say, we do. No excuses, no exceptions. We share openly — we communicate clearly and early, even when the news is hard. We own outcomes — we admit errors quickly, fix them, and prevent them from repeating.
