**About The
Groucho Club**
The Groucho exists to keep Soho’s artistic, liberal
spirit burning bright, and to champion London’s role as a creative powerhouse
on the world stage. A joyful, generous and welcoming space for ideas, creative
life and the occasional late night.
Born in 1985 as the antidote to the cloistered
gentlemen’s clubs of London’s Mayfair, The Groucho Club was founded on a
radical idea: that good company is the kind chosen by ideas rather than status,
that emerging voices belong in the same room as established ones, and that
culture is made through conversation, collision and curiosity.
Forty years on, that belief still drives everything we
do. We exist to facilitate the conversations that shape culture now and next,
to back the people making it, and to keep Soho generous, welcoming and alive to
creative possibility. We host, we don’t serve.
Members and guests are people we know, not names on a
list.
Restaurant Supervisor
We're looking for a Restaurant Supervisor who brings
more than operational expertise. Someone who can lead from the floor, inspire a
team, and create exceptional experiences for our members and guests every day.
This role sits at the heart of our restaurant
operation, overseeing service across The Dining Room and Bernie's. You'll be
the bridge between the restaurant team and management, ensuring every shift
runs smoothly while maintaining the relaxed professionalism and distinctive
character that define The Groucho Club.
You'll be organised, confident, and highly visible on
the floor, equally comfortable supporting your team through busy service
periods, building relationships with members, and ensuring every detail is
executed to the highest standard. The ideal candidate combines strong
leadership with genuine hospitality, understanding that memorable service
starts with people.
Why is this so important? Because every interaction,
every recommendation, and every service moment contributes to the experience
our members return for time and again. At The Groucho Club, hospitality is
personal, and our Restaurant Supervisors play a key role in bringing that
philosophy to life.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading day-to-day restaurant operations across The
Dining Room and Bernie's, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Supporting, motivating, and guiding the restaurant
team throughout each shift.
- Creating a welcoming and memorable experience for
members and guests from arrival through to departure.
- Managing table allocations, reservations, and service
flow to ensure an organised and seamless operation.
- Building strong relationships with members and regular
guests, understanding their preferences and anticipating their needs.
- Leading pre-service briefings, communicating menu
updates, specials, and key service priorities.
- Supporting and coaching team members on service
standards, menu knowledge, and guest engagement.
- Working closely with the kitchen, bar, reception,
events teams, and Duty Managers to deliver an exceptional member experience.
- Monitoring cleanliness, presentation, ambience, and
operational readiness across all restaurant areas.
- Handling guest feedback professionally, resolving
issues confidently and escalating where appropriate.
- Ensuring orders, payments, and operational procedures
are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Supporting staff welfare, attendance management, and
maintaining a positive team culture.
- Upholding Health & Safety, Food Safety, Hygiene,
and Allergen standards at all times.
- Promoting food, wine, and additional club offerings to
enhance the guest experience and drive revenue opportunities.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Previous experience in a Restaurant Supervisor or
senior hospitality leadership role.
- A natural leader who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and
developing others.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality
and building meaningful guest relationships.
- Calm and composed under pressure, able to manage busy
service periods with confidence.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention
to detail.
- A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and
looks for solutions.
- Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate
across multiple departments.
- Knowledgeable about food, wine, and restaurant
operations, with a desire to continue learning.
- Adaptable, energetic, and positive in a fast-paced
environment.
- Professional, approachable, and aligned with The
Groucho Club's values and culture.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of service,
cleanliness, and compliance.
