Build the Enterprise AI Capability Others Will Inherit

Ready for a role where architecture genuinely transforms how a business operates?

This is not a role where you'll inherit a mature blueprint. It's an opportunity to define one.

As we continue our shift towards an enterprise-wide mindset, we're seeking a Senior AI Architect to establish our AI target state, architecture roadmap, standards, governance frameworks, and reusable patterns that will shape Horizon Power to come.

A unique opportunity to create a legacy, you will define the foundations of Enterprise AI, providing strategic architecture leadership and assurance across our most critical AI initiatives while influencing how the business leverages emerging technologies to create value.

In this role you will build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across business, technology and external partners, acting as a strategic advisor who drives alignment on AI strategy, architecture decisions, investment priorities and enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.

What makes this role worth considering

We’re aware that Senior Architects are in demand – but you should know, this is one of those rare roles where you can shape the enterprise approach from the ground up, with strong executive backing for technology and AI.

• Your chance to build something: influence our enterprise approach and leave something meaningful behind.

• Enterprise influence: you get to work closely with senior business leaders.

• Big programs, real impact: lead architecture on our technology strategy and clear governance.

• AI / automation with purpose: explore practical ways to embed AI into business processes (not just prototypes).

• Learn from a leader who’s seen it all: with more than 30 years of architecture experience across sectors (mining, education, governance, Telco, oil & gas), Bernard is eager to share his knowledge.

Your impact in role, if you choose to join us

You’ll be trusted to operate at enterprise level. Setting direction, guiding teams and ensuring delivery. Responsibilities will include:

• Lead Enterprise AI Strategy & Architecture

Define and govern the Enterprise AI target state, architecture principles, standards, roadmaps, and reusable patterns that guide AI investment and delivery across the organisation.

• **Shape and Design AI Solutions

**Partner with business and delivery teams to assess business-initiated AI use cases, define solution options and develop end-to-end architectures that translate business needs into secure, scalable and supportable AI solutions. Provide architecture leadership from discovery and feasibility through delivery for Generative AI, Agentic AI, RAG, AI assistants and intelligent automation

• Establish AI Governance & Platforms

Define architecture requirements, governance frameworks, guardrails, and controls that enable the responsible, ethical, and sustainable adoption of AI technologies.

• Drive Capability & Technical Leadership

Build organisational AI maturity through standards, architecture assurance, reusable frameworks, technology evaluation, and mentorship across architecture, data, cyber security, and delivery teams.

• Influence Strategic Stakeholders

Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, business stakeholders and technology partners, helping shape AI opportunities, prioritise viable use cases and align solution decisions and investments with business outcomes and enterprise architecture direction.

What you’ll need to bring

• Senior level and proven experience in business capability uplift and transformation

• Proven Architecture Leadership: Extensive experience in enterprise, AI, platform, data or solution architecture within large and complex organisations

• Proven experience partnering with business stakeholders to shape AI use cases and producing end-to-end solution architectures covering applications, data, integration, security, platforms and operational support.

• TOGAF Foundations / Practitioner certification.

• Enterprise AI Expertise: Demonstrated success delivering AI strategies, target-state architectures, roadmaps, governance frameworks, and enterprise AI solutions including GenAI, RAG, intelligent automation and Agentic AI.

This role would be well suited if you enjoy complexity, asking the hard questions, and bringing senior stakeholders on the journey. You’ll need confidence and charisma to challenge, influence and steer.
