Full description
Are you looking for a project to be proud of, one that sets you apart?
Have you ever thought to yourself I wish we had setup our cloud environment this way from the start, it would have been so much cleaner and more efficient. We help serve the community through public transportation software and we need an expert to help us move from an on prem location to the cloud (Azure).
Applicants must submit a cover letter — see section 7. Now, let's dig in.
Requirements:
5+ years in networking, systems, or infrastructure engineering supporting production environments.
Hands-on experience building site-to-site and point-to-site VPNs, including connections into networks you don't control.
tracking, and reporting & data analytics. It also means we build real-time
information systems for riders, including apps and digital signage found at bus
stops. We have relationships with Apple Maps, Google Maps, Transit app, and our
work goes out to millions of riders on those platforms. Our product is like air
traffic control, but for buses. There are a mix of hardware and software
products in this role. We hope this excites you!
Our team in the US has approximately 70 people across the US, with 15 in the product/engineering department. It’s the best of both worlds: small company feel with big company support. To learn more about the US-based intelligent transportation systems division of GMV, visit www.gmvtransit.com.
2️⃣ We're here to serve customers
Our customers are public transit operators. Their customers are the transit riding public, which are often the people who rely on transit every day to get where they need to go. Our mission is to Make Transit Work for them, and we take this mission very seriously. Our team thrives on collaboration, growth and the shared goal of making transit better for everyone!
If you want to be challenged with growth opportunities in a small team environment with high autonomy and see your work live on thousands of transit buses nationwide, then we are the team for you
**3️⃣ We’re looking for passion
We value engineers who like to ship solutions to problems and aren't afraid to receive direct feedback about why a particular solution may or may not be the best. We value people who enjoy being wrong and learning something new about why in the process, recognizing that the team has something to learn from everyone on it. We value people who challenge & support their peers, pressing them to be better versions of themselves and up-level the team.
This kind of transparency, passion, and professionalism is what makes a world-class engineering team.
** 4️⃣ What this role is about:
You'll join a small, experienced DevOps team preparing for a major project: migrating our infrastructure to the cloud. Your expertise in both cloud infrastructure and IT/networking will make you a key voice in how that migration is designed and executed, and you'll help maintain the environment once we're there. Along the way, you'll help keep our current colocation environment healthy and stable until the migration is complete.
Beyond the migration, you'll help us solution customer infrastructure requirements and drive future improvements to our platform, keeping our systems running smoothly and efficiently as we scale.
** 5️⃣ Our commitment, and yours:
We dedicate our time to ensure the team is successful. We value internal growth and development, and many of us have long tenure at the company. We are looking for a similar dedication, someone to grow with us over time.
We’d love the chance to show you why this could be the right place for you.
6️⃣ What we offer:
We can offer great benefits, and a career-making move for you.
$160k - $180k plus 15% bonus potential
Generous medical. dental, vision and voluntary benefits
Generous paid parental leave after one year
401k plan with company match
Flexible hours and work location
Most of our work happens on Slack, but a few times per year we get together in person to collaborate within and across our teams. Our company is a small one with great culture, and you're going to have fun being a part of it.
Our team is passionate; our product makes a difference. Let us sell you on that. We’ll show you this during the interview process, and we promise you won't be disappointed.
** 7️⃣ To apply, you MUST send more than a resume – we need to understand who you are.
In addition to completing the online application, send an email to careers-na [AT] gmv [DOT] com with the subject “Senior Cloud Engineer” Include your resume and a short note that helps us understand who you are.
Please tell us::
Why this role appeals to you
What kind of engineering work motivates you
A system, product, project, or technical challenge you’re proud of
Why you think you would be a strong fit for this team
We do not need a formal cover letter. We do not need an AI-generated summary of your resume. We want to understand how you think, what you care about, and whether this is the kind of work that would make you excited to show up every day. The hiring manager and your future teammates will personally review complete applications.
