What will you do?
As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will identify, quantify, and deliver cloud cost optimisation opportunities across Azure, AWS, and GCP. You will combine cloud engineering, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and FinOps practices to reduce cloud costs, improve cost transparency, and implement sustainable governance controls across a multi-cloud environment.
Your tasks
- Identify cloud cost optimisation opportunities across logging, observability, and storage services
- Analyse log ingestion, routing, retention, tiering, sampling, and exclusion rules
- Access and analyse logging data using cloud-native tools to identify key cost drivers
- Build and deploy automation for logging and storage cost optimisation at enterprise scale
- Implement approved optimisation changes using Infrastructure as Code and automated deployment pipelines
- Prepare rollback plans and conduct post-change validation
- Produce optimisation proposals, savings forecasts, and business cases with clear assumptions
- Improve tagging, labelling, allocation, chargeback, and showback models
- Define and maintain cloud cost policies, guardrails, retention standards, quotas, and budget alerts
- Run optimisation sessions with platform, application, and engineering teams
- Present technical findings and recommendations to senior engineering stakeholders
- Prepare executive-level cost reports covering trends, forecasts, actual savings, and risks
- Create runbooks, technical controls, and supporting documentation
- Monitor cost regression and implement automated drift detection
- Ensure implemented changes comply with governance, risk, and change management requirements
Your skills
- Hands-on experience with at least two public cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Strong knowledge of Azure core services, identity, networking, governance, and cost management
- Good understanding of AWS and GCP cost drivers and pricing mechanisms
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Diagnostic Settings, Storage Accounts, Event Hub, Sentinel, Azure Policy, and Azure Cost Management
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch Logs, S3 lifecycle policies, Cost Explorer, or Cost and Usage Reports
