Senior Data Engineer, Consumer Engagement

About the role

We are looking for a Consumer Engagement Automation Engineer to join a Digital Health platform focused on improving healthcare engagement and access to health information.

This is an engineering role focused on building scalable automation systems that generate and deliver personalized communications across email, push, SMS, and in-app channels. You will own the automation, data, integration, and AI-enabled workflows behind those communications rather than manually building individual campaigns.

The platform connects healthcare data from multiple sources and uses it to deliver personalized consumer experiences.

The Consumer Engagement domain is evolving from manually created campaigns toward config-driven, reusable, AI-assisted automation. The goal is to build systems that can generate, localize, validate, and deliver compliant communications across multiple enterprise clients with minimal manual effort.

The environment includes marketing automation platforms, messaging providers, content systems, data pipelines, APIs, and AI/agent-based workflows.

What you'll do

• Build reusable engagement automation systems, templates-as-code, agent workflows, and campaign blueprints.
• Own the technical automation stack across email, push, SMS, and in-app communications.
• Design and maintain event/attribute schemas, segmentation models, integrations, and data pipelines supporting personalization.
• Build and maintain integrations with engagement, messaging, CMS, localization, and data platforms.
• Design AI-assisted workflows for content generation, assembly, localization, and QA.
• Implement automated quality controls for accuracy, accessibility, deliverability, brand consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Build reporting and self-service data access for campaign and engagement performance.
• Translate engagement requirements into technical designs and scalable platform capabilities.
• Ensure solutions are secure, compliant, maintainable, and reusable across multiple enterprise clients.

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of experience in marketing automation, lifecycle/CRM engineering, marketing technology, or a similar engineering-focused role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Iterable or a comparable enterprise engagement/ESP platform.
• Strong technical foundation in SQL, APIs, data models, and integrations.
• Hands-on scripting or development experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience designing .
