Full description
Built on Willis Carrier’s invention of modern air conditioning in 1902, Carrier is a world leader in heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems. We constantly build upon our history of proven innovation with new products and services that improve global comfort and efficiency. Our refrigeration segment is delivering confidence in the connected cold chain through healthy, safe, sustainable, and intelligent solutions that transport, monitor, and preserve the world’s perishables and pharmaceuticals.
About the role
Carrier has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical/Electronic Systems Engineer to join its Carrier Transicold Controls & Digital Products Engineering team located in Syracuse, NY. Our team is providing game changing solutions to make Carrier’s truck trailer and container transportation refrigeration units sustainable, smarter, and connected. Our products are undergoing a radical transformation into fully electric, intelligent refrigeration systems that are more efficient and reliable. We design, develop, and support electrical systems including the specification of intelligent, connected power conversion, electronic microcontroller systems, and connectivity devices. We are continuously adopting new development technologies and capabilities to deliver advanced solutions for a safe and sustainable cold chain. The Senior Electrical/Electronic Systems Engineer will be a technical leader as part of our team to create efficient, high quality, and reliable intelligent electrical and electronic systems for Carrier transportation refrigeration units. The position is focused on design and qualification of power supply, power conversion as well as specification and qualification of electronic controls and connectivity systems.
Key Responsibilities
Work in a team defining and representing the structure of electrical systems, power generation and conversion components, electronic controls, connectivity devices and their relationships
Help defining and documenting the interface between electrical system and mechanical and structural components and the external environment, including power interfaces and signal I/O Help with identifying business requirements (performance, reliability and cost) and desired outcomes
Work on integration of electrical & electronic systems for transportation refrigeration including batteries, power generators and power conversion modules interfacing with the electrical grid
Specify requirements for power conversion and electronic controls and interface with suppliers to ensure components meet system requirements
Use modeling and design tools, perform analytical calculations, verify, and test on lab prototypes and proof of concepts
Troubleshoot problems on existing products, engage in root cause analysis activities
