Senior Full Stack Developer

New year, new me! Oh hang on, we're two months early to be saying that. Anyway, we're looking for people keen to start the new year with a new opportunity, joining a pretty groovy bunch in January 2027.

At Squirrel, we make money stuff easy for Kiwis. Since day one, we've built our own in-house applications and platforms that shape how we work with and deliver for our customers. Now we're rebuilding our tech foundations, and we need a full stack TypeScript/JavaScript developer who thinks big picture and moves fast to join the drey.

In this role you'll work front to back across a variety of apps and platforms, such as our investment app, client portals and company website, just to name a few. You'll own features end to end and work AI-first with tools like Claude Code, as part of a friendly, high-trust team.

What you'll bring

• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and commercial full stack experience

• Solid fundamentals and system design thinking

• Daily use of agentic AI coding tools

• The confidence to turn a fuzzy problem into a solid design

• Strong self-sufficiency – you can solve problems with minimal hand-holding (again, we're a high-trust team!)

• A track record of full stack development with a high degree of autonomy, while being a great team player

• Experience in financial services, lending, banking or investment platforms is a bonus, but not essential

Where and who

You can be based at our Auckland HQ or fully remote, with the ability to travel to Auckland from time to time for team days and major product milestones. Given the nature of the role, we're ideally looking for a senior dev with at least 8 years' experience under their belt. But interest from a standout intermediate ready to step up are welcome too.
