Job Title

Senior Mendix Platform Engineer

Job Description

Enable 50+ Mendix apps to scale securely and reliably by building compliant platform capabilities, modules, and integrations that help Rabobank development teams deliver faster and with confidence.

You & Your Role

Build and enhance the Mendix platform that powers Rabobank applications as a Senior Mendix Platform Engineer. You enable teams by creating reusable modules, automating pipelines, and bridging low code with enterprise infrastructure like Azure DevOps. You troubleshoot complex issues, collaborate with app teams, and ensure everything you build scales across dozens of applications, while continuously improving platform standards and developer experience. You communicate clearly, both in writing and when presenting, and you bring persistence and ownership to complex challenges across teams and systems.

Examples for Practices

• Automate Mendix deployments, so all applications automatically receive updated platform modules without manual effort.

• Diagnose and resolve design system issues by collaborating with consuming teams and tracing downstream impact across multiple applications.

• Build reusable components and integrations that reduce duplication and accelerate compliant and secure delivery across the Mendix landscape.

##
Facts & Figures

• 36 hours per week, with the option to work 40 hours

• Over 68 Mendix applications actively supported across Rabobank, with continued international growth

• 9.5 million customers worldwide

##
Top 3 Responsibilities

• Enable Mendix development teams by building, maintaining, and improving reusable modules, integrations, and platform services (using Mendix and adjacent technologies) used across many applications.

• Bridge low code development with enterprise infrastructure by developing pipelines, custom code, and automation in tools such as Mendix and Azure DevOps environments.

• Collaborate and communicate with product teams to analyse issues, improve platform capabilities, and ensure scalable, high-quality solutions that positively impact downstream applications.

This role sits within the Mendix Platform Team, supporting internal Rabobank teams in delivering and scaling Mendix applications efficiently and reliably.

Together we achieve more than alone!

We believe in the power of diversity. It is precisely by combining people's differences that we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you would like to add to our team of Mendix Platform Engineers.

The ~7 people of the Mendix Platform Team enable roughly 100 Rabobank Mendix developers and a wider community of over 300 colleagues, by providing a stable and scalable Mendix ecosystem. Collaboration is central to how we work; as one technical, solution-oriented platform team, we continuously improve our services and support each other in tackling complex challenges. We work in a hybrid setup, meeting in Utrecht at least one day per week.

At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you at the same time. You’ll see this reflected in your personal development budget, our hybrid working environment, and a healthy balance between work and home. In the Mendix Platform Team, you support important work on banking services for our private and business customers, as well as societal issues such as food and energy transitions.

Why Everyone is Welcome at Rabobank

At Rabobank, we believe we become stronger through people who complement each other. By embracing our differences, we bring out the best in one another. We seek diversity in areas such as knowledge, skills, and experience, but also in gender, background, and culture. Across every department, we strive for variety and the freedom to be yourself – whoever you are. That’s what diversity and inclusion at Rabobank is all about

You & Your Talent

• (Academic) university-level education specifically in IT including relevant certifications.

• Strong oral communication skills in Dutch & English; team language is English

• Strong writing and documentation skills, so you are able to create clear, reusable technical guidance for other teams

• Ability to present ideas, solutions, and platform improvements clearly, to different audiences (considered a strong advantage)

• Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach

Technical skills:

• IT development background – e.g., Java, JavaScript, CSS, Widgets, React, DevOps / pipelines, Docker, AI, CI/CD, etc.

• Experience with web application development concepts (frontend/backend, APIs/REST)

• Mendix experience, including e.g. Menditect, QSM, Mendix SDK, Mendix CLI, or similar

You don’t need all of these technical skills, but at least some, in line with your experience.

Apply

To ensure that we assess all candidates equally for suitability for this position, we do not require a mandatory cover letter. Instead, we ask all candidates the same questions to see how your profile matches the role. Please pay sufficient attention to answering these questions and explaining your answers; together with your CV, these responses form the basis for our evaluation in this round. Submitting both a CV and answers to the three questions is the minimum requirement to be considered in the selection process. A cover letter is not mandatory but may be submitted optionally.

You may draw on your work experience, volunteer work, education, private life, and so on. Use a maximum of 200 words per question and provide no more than two examples. Below are the questions:

• How do you approach solving a technical problem that impacts multiple teams?

• How does component quality relate to working in a platform team, and what effects do you see it would have on the DevOps process

• How do you ensure your work is understandable and reusable for others (e.g. documentation, communication)?

• What is your current stance on AI and the future of Mendix, and what steps should we take as Mendix Platform Team?
