About the Role
Join a platform engineering team at a public safety technology company, building and operating the cloud infrastructure and data systems behind large-scale information retrieval. You will own critical distributed systems end to end, helping ensure they are reliable, secure, and ready for demanding production workloads.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and operate data pipelines that ingest large volumes of data into object storage and index it in databases and vector stores for fast retrieval.
- Make architectural decisions across storage tiers, distributed databases, and high-throughput messaging and streaming systems.
- Run and scale containerized services on orchestration platforms, using declarative configuration and GitOps workflows across environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and DevOps tooling that supports safe, frequent releases.
- Help maintain secure, auditable, reliable systems in regulated or federal environments.
- Troubleshoot and tune application, storage, and networking systems, and support teammates through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
What We're Looking For
- Five to ten years of experience, including at least five years building and maintaining production software systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS production workloads and a strong understanding of distributed systems.
- Experience designing large-scale data storage and retrieval systems, including hot and cold storage, and building production data pipelines.
- DevOps experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and automated deployments.
- Experience with backend or distributed systems in addition to front-end development.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps, Python or Go, PostgreSQL, vector databases, S3 or similar object storage, Kafka, ArgoCD, Helm, and distributed SQL databases.
- Experience owning production systems from architecture through deployment and on-call operations; regulated or federal environment experience is a plus.
