Who We Are
Open Government Products (OGP) operates like a startup within the government; We are a fast-paced, dynamic team of engineers, designers, and product managers dedicated to public good. We autonomously identify opportunities to solve public problems using tech, rapidly prototype, and launch solutions - from citizen apps to automating public agency operations. Embracing an open-sourced and flat hierarchy, we cut through bureaucracy to focus on real-world, user-centric innovations that drive change.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Manager at Open Government Products (OGP), you will:
- Be a tech entrepreneur for public good. Identify opportunities where technology can make a meaningful impact, build prototypes to validate ideas, find product-market fit, and bring the right stakeholders on board.
- Build products that solve real user problems. Collaborate closely with stakeholders, engineers, and designers to understand user needs, explore technical possibilities, and deliver impactful, user-centric solutions.
- Think big and execute with purpose. Develop ambitious, long-term visions for your product space and take ownership of turning those visions into reality.
- Make a tangible difference. Work on meaningful challenges across areas such as transportation, education, and healthcare, where even simple technology solutions can significantly improve people's lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Take products from 0 to 1. Identify new product opportunities across government, rapidly prototype solutions, validate assumptions, and iterate towards product-market fit.
- Navigate complexity and drive alignment. Build strong relationships across government, navigate bureaucratic processes, and find practical ways to overcome barriers and move initiatives forward.
- Stay hands-on with engineering and design. Work closely with technical and design teams to shape product decisions, challenge assumptions, and get into the details when needed. We value leaders who are practitioners and are comfortable being directly involved in building great products.
Who We’re Looking For
- You have built and shipped products that matter. You have owned a product from problem to launch to scale, more than once. You know what it costs to be wrong and how to find out early.
- You understand the tech. You can talk architecture, data, security and trade-offs with engineers as a peer. You have used LLMs and agents. You have a view on how they change the work.
