IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.
Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Project Manager owns one or more specific trades within a data center building – for example electrical (MV/LV distribution, generators, UPS), mechanical (chillers, CRAHs, piping), civil/structural, or controls – from front-end engineering and constructability through sourcing, contracting, construction, commissioning and handover. The Senior Project Manager is the single owner of schedule, cost, quality and coordination for those trades and gives day-to-day direction to the Project Manager supporting the building.
With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.
Responsibilities
Project start-up and front-end engineering
- Manage front-end engineering for assigned trades, providing early assessment of constructability and site layout and coordination constraints.
- Manage the contracting process for assigned trades, providing input into the commercial structure and technical scope of subcontracts and GC trade packages.
- Support procurement and long-lead equipment identification, supplier assessment and capex planning in line with the building schedule.
- Facilitate handover from the development team to the execution team for assigned trades.
- Formulate trade-level project management plans and schedules addressing scope, work sequencing, HSE and quality outcomes, and develop the Work Breakdown Structure with project controls to establish budget-tracking processes.
Scope management
- Ensure construction documentation for assigned trades is communicated and stored so that contractor scope and obligations under the contract are clear.
- Lead design and constructability reviews for assigned trades through IFC, working with the design team so that coordination needs, lessons learned and construction improvements are incorporated into the design.
- Own the RFI process for assigned trades and drive prompt resolution.
