Overview
Do you want to build foundational security and messaging capabilities used by Microsoft 365 and Teams? Our team develops IC3 Messaging Store services and owns a data-at-rest encryption SDK. Our work helps keep customer communications secure, reliable, and available at global scale.
As a Senior Software Engineer on our team, you will design, implement, test, deploy, and operate backend services whose availability, performance, and data protection directly affect customer-facing Teams scenarios. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your expertise in distributed systems, planet-scale cloud services, asynchronous event processing, observability, and resilience engineering while collaborating with teams across services and regions.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

- Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve service performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), develop and follow operational playbooks, and participate in the on-call rotation to monitor service health.
- Proactively learn and apply technical solutions and patterns that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, security, performance, and operational consistency at scale.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching, and contribute to improving the team's engineering foundation.
