Senior Software Engineer

Help us shape the future of media technology You care about the media industry and want to help newsrooms get the most out of new technologies and AI. You put yourself in our customers' shoes and turn their needs into practical technical solutions. You take ownership of what you build, think along and tackle things without waiting to be asked, bringing new ideas to the team. You question things constructively, yet stay pragmatic when it is time to move forward. You enjoy working in a team, share your thinking openly and speak up early when something gets stuck. In the role of **Senior Software Engineer** you will: * **Participate in our Product Sprints**: collaborate on planning, requirements and design. Develop the Livingdocs platform across frontend, backend, databases, search and APIs, making smart use of AI\-assisted tools. * **Own features end to end**: from understanding customer needs through implementation and review to release and support the team that rolls them out across our many customer setups. * Always **consider how changes affect customers**: flag breaking changes, explain migration steps and help ship fixes to maintained releases. Communicate features and changes clearly to internal teams and customers, both directly and through release notes and documentation. * **Reduce technical debt** by continuously refactoring existing code, modernising features, increasing test coverage and keeping APIs stable with clear deprecation paths. **Contribute to architectural decisions** that keep the platform consistent and scalable. * Help improve how we work by **initiating and contributing to workshops, retrospectives and other formats**. Ask the right questions, simplify complexity and collaborate with the team to find clear solutions. What you bring You have several years of experience in **frontend and backend development**, modern web architectures and the web platform itself. Ideally, you've worked on a mature product and know what it takes to keep it maintainable. You are fluent in **JavaScript**, experienced in and proficient in or other modern frontend frameworks. You're comfortable with Git, the command line and npm. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis or Elasticsearch is a plus. **AI\-assisted engineering** and using AI tools to work more productively is a big interest of yours, plus you have the habit of actively exploring new technologies and development practices. You **communicate clearly and confidently** and turn ideas into solid concepts and working code. You can explain technical topics to people without an engineering background, and you give and receive constructive feedback with ease. You are fluent in written and spoken **English**. Speaking German is a bonus. What we offer We are a company of 34 people (and growing) that values autonomy and conscious collaboration. As a member of the Livingdocs team, you can expect: * a **hybrid work model** with an in\-person focus: the Product team is on site at least two days a week, including our team day on Thursdays, at our office in the center of Zurich, just 10 minutes on foot from the Main Station. * a space where **learning and growth** are encouraged and we support each other to evolve every day * a culture where **your ideas matter** and your work has genuine, visible impact * **competitive salaries**, a generous yearly **hardware** and **personal development budget** and team retreats to recharge and reconnect * an office culture that values **togetherness** with regular check\-ins and casual lunch get\-togethers for those who wish to join Your impact In this **Senior Software Engineer** role, you will contribute significantly to shaping the evolution of our company.
