Senior Software Engineer

Salary: $150,000 per year

Auckland, New Zealand | Full-time

It is inaccurate to say that New Zealand has a health system. In reality, we have health systems. Healthcare in New Zealand relies on many different software systems and services that all too often don't talk to each other. MaiBand was founded to solve this.

We’re building the infrastructure to connect New Zealand’s health system. When someone needs care, their information should follow them, no matter the setting. What this means is:

• Paramedics having the right information to safely treat people.

• Patient information arriving at a hospital before the ambulance does.

• Patients being able to move between GP practices without their information becoming fragmented.

• Proactive healthcare through predictive diagnostics.

We are already working with Medtech and Hato Hone St John, and are backed by NZGCP, UniServices, the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, and the Newmarket Innovation Precinct.

In short, we have a lot on our plate. This is why we are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to join our team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll help build the software that connects to healthcare systems across New Zealand.

Most of the work is backend engineering: FHIR integrations, APIs, authentication, clinical data retrieval, testing, and deployment.

You’ll work directly with external engineering teams and healthcare organisations. You’ll own integrations from figuring out how another system works to getting it running reliably in production.

Our current focus is integrating with the Medtech practice management system through their ALEX API. This will allow us to retrieve patient information and provide it to paramedics, bringing medical ID into the digital age.

This role has the option for you to work in a fully remote, hybrid, or on-site capacity.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We care more about what you can do than what’s on your CV.

FHIR experience is preferred. HL7 V2 experience is useful. Neither matters as much as your ability to learn quickly and solve difficult problems.

You should be comfortable with backend development, APIs and databases. Experience with OAuth 2.0, asymmetric cryptography, system integrations, or healthcare infrastructure helps. This is a small team, so you’ll have a lot of responsibility.

PERKS

• Competitive salary of $150,000

• 2% equity vested in line with our Employee Stock Ownership Program. You will have ownership in what you build.

If we succeed, healthcare systems that have been fragmented for decades will be able to work together through one unified network. It is hard to overstate the impact this, and by extension you, will have.
