Skills
Must have
- Strong software engineering background – you write clean, maintainable code and think about structure and systems, not just output
- Ownership and initiative – you take full responsibility for your work, hold it to a high standard, and drive things forward
- Keen interest in current security trends, across open-source and commercial software alike
- Proficiency in Python (or another object-oriented language), paired with hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) to automate your own workflow
- Comfort working with data – spotting patterns in large datasets and analyzing them in Python or SQL
- Excellent spoken and written English
Nice to have
- Software architecture experience – designing systems, not just features
- Application security knowledge, or a solid sense of how software is built, packaged, shipped, and attacked
- Familiarity with industry standards and terminology such as SBOMs, CVE, CWE, and CPE
- Interest or experience in reverse engineering – debuggers, disassemblers, static/dynamic analysis (bonus points if you took the Reverse Engineering course at FER)
Full description
Please note: for this position, we are only considering candidates who are already based in Croatia.
At ReversingLabs, we provide the world’s largest threat intelligence repository to protect software development and power advanced security solutions, keeping leading cybersecurity organizations and Fortune 500 enterprises informed and ahead of threats. Only ReversingLabs delivers the software package analysis speed and depth needed to protect against software supply chain risk.
Our vision is clear: to arm every company with end-to-end insights so that development teams release securely, IT purchases safely, and the SOC can effectively detect, isolate, and respond. We are seeking extraordinary talent for this game-changing opportunity to help forge this transformational journey at ReversingLabs.
Software risk hides in many places – in the open-source packages developers pull in, in the commercial and third-party software that enterprises buy and must vet before trusting it, and in the releases software publishers ship to their own customers.
Part of what our team quietly maintains is a curated body of knowledge about the software the world runs on – what it is, where it comes from, how it behaves, and what makes it risky. Keeping it accurate, well-structured, and growing is as much an engineering and data challenge as a security one.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll design and build the scripts, tools, and automation that make our processes fast, repeatable, and reliable. You’ll lean on solid engineering instincts, a pragmatic sense of what’s actually worth automating, and modern AI tooling to move quickly.
You don’t need to be a security expert on day one. But you should be genuinely curious about the domain – because the people who thrive long-term at ReversingLabs are the ones who learn how attacks work, what makes software risky, and how detection gets built. The deeper your understanding of the domain, the more impactful the problems you’ll get to own.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain the tools and procedures that power threat hunting, analysis, and detection at scale, using AI where it helps
- Build and own the frameworks that safeguard the data quality of our curated databases – the automated checks and guardrails that keep that data accurate, trustworthy, and up to date
- Work side by side with domain experts – understand their day-to-day workflows, then suggest and build tooling that makes their work faster and more efficient
- Write solution design documents – frame the problem, weigh the options, and set out an approach you and the team can build on
What we’re looking for
- Strong software engineering background – you write clean, maintainable code and think about structure and systems, not just output
