Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our EtaPRO Software Engineering team in Amherst, NY. The Senior Software Engineer provides advanced technical leadership in the design, development, and evolution of EtaPRO software solutions. This role leads complex engineering efforts, influences architecture and design direction, and helps ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable software. The Senior Software Engineer is expected to operate as a senior technical contributor, mentor engineers across multiple levels, and play a key role in shaping engineering standards and practices.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Solution Design
- Lead the design and implementation of complex systems, features, and integrations
- Drive technical decision-making for architecture, design patterns, and implementation approaches
- Own major technical areas, services, or product subsystems
- Evaluate trade-offs related to maintainability, scalability, performance, and delivery timelines
- Resolve high-impact technical issues and support root-cause analysis across systems
Engineering Quality & Process Improvement
- Set and maintain high standards for code quality, security, testing, and maintainability
- Lead code reviews for complex changes and guide engineers on design and implementation quality
- Improve engineering workflows, development standards, and technical practices
- Drive reduction of technical debt and improvement of long-term system health
