Join an inclusive team passionate about one thing: using their expertise in the relentless pursuit of innovation for customers and partners. The solutions we build help make everything from virtual reality experiences to breakthroughs in neural networks possible. We do it all while committing to integrity, sustainability, and giving back to our communities. Because doing so can fuel the very innovation we are pursuing.
The Senior / Staff Engineer, Firmware Test owns defined SSD firmware verification scope and drives test strategy, automation, failure analysis, and product readiness for SSD firmware features. This role develops comprehensive verification plans, leads white-box and grey-box testing approaches, analyzes regression failures, and resolves complex NAND, firmware, and system-level issues. This role collaborates closely with firmware development and cross-functional teams to improve code quality, ensure reliable product performance, and support enterprise and automotive SSD products through disciplined technical execution, mentoring, and clear stakeholder communication.
Main Responsibilities
- Own comprehensive firmware verification plans for SSD firmware features and ensure appropriate coverage across functional, regression, and system-level test needs.
- Develop white-box, grey-box, known, and closed-system test methods to verify and validate SSD firmware features.
- Drive analysis of weekly regression failures, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve NAND, firmware, and system-level issues in SSD products.
- Manage test development, test deployment, test automation, and reporting activities to improve firmware quality and release readiness.
- Participate in code reviews and guide the team to ensure comprehensive test coverage and alignment with firmware architecture.
- Collaborate with firmware development engineers to improve code quality, debug complex issues, and strengthen validation practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Communicate technical challenges, solutions, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to cross-functional teams and management.
- Lead technical contributors as required and mentor less experienced engineers in firmware test development, debugging, and validation practices.
- Support effective Agile development practices, Git development flow, branch management, automated build, continuous integration, and test automation systems.
- Maintain strong working relationships across firmware, product test, validation, and system engineering teams.
AI Responsibilities
- Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
