##

About the Role

You'll own delivery of a Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) service that helps businesses get recommended by AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google's AI answers. You'll be the named lead each client deals with, working directly with the founding team. It's a player-manager role: you'll run client onboarding and monthly plans, carry your own book of clients hands-on, and quality-check every page and pitch before it goes out. As specialists join, you'll coach them, turn early learnings into playbooks, and help hire and train the team. It suits someone with strong technical SEO, daily use of AI assistants, and the self-direction to build structure in a new, fast-moving field.

Key Responsibilities

Client Onboarding & Relationship Management

• Run each client's launch month: welcome email and shared channel, access collection, voice and proof sheet, kick-off call, and end-of-month playback call.
• Hold client calls at the cadence agreed for each client's service level.
• Answer client questions in shared channels (Slack, WhatsApp, or Teams) and keep approvals and access requests moving.
• Work under the partner agency's name for agency-referred clients.
• Tell the founders when a client would benefit from a faster pace.

GEO Strategy & Monthly Planning

• Review tracking data for every client each week, and act on drops, wins, and competitor moves flagged by specialists.
• Read each client's baseline report and build the 90-day plan and first month's work list.
• Revise each plan monthly based on the evidence: pages, topics, tracked prompts, and off-site targets.
• Set each client's monthly work list, matched to the service level they have bought.

Hands-On GEO & SEO Delivery

• Carry a personal book of clients (initially four to five), doing the same hands-on work as the specialists.
• Refresh existing pages with answer-first openings, clear headings, FAQs, internal links, schema, and visible date stamps, in the client's voice.
• Build new 800–1,500-word pages from briefs, checking every fact and claim and adding the client's own proof, meta data, and alt text.
• Complete foundations passes: AI crawler access (robots.txt, firewall/CDN bot settings), JavaScript-free content visibility, schema (Organization, Person, Service, FAQPage), entity basics, and llms.txt where supported.
• Carry out off-site actions: listings, profiles, pitches, review requests, and follow-ups.
• Publish in the client's CMS, or prepare ready-to-paste drafts or change-request packs where there is no access.

Quality Control

• Check every page before it publishes and every pitch before it sends, across all clients.
• Confirm content matches the voice and proof sheet and makes only approved claims.
• Make sure no client is promised mentions, citations, or rankings.
• Coordinate founder sign-off on each new client's first report and first published page.

Reporting & Founder Updates

• Write the lead's note on each client's monthly report, keeping the work delivered separate from what the AI engines did.
• Send the founders a weekly summary: work shipped, approvals waiting, risks, and capacity.

Team Leadership, Playbooks & Capability Building

• Plan each specialist's week across clients and schedule launches so no month overloads.
• Review specialists' work, unblock them, and coach them weekly.
• Own the team's written playbooks, including a foundations checklist for each website platform (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Kajabi, Webflow, HubSpot).
• Interview, onboard, and train new specialists alongside Smartsourcing and the founders.
• Share monthly changes in how AI assistants find and cite sources.

Delivery Operations, Access & Information Security

• Keep daily timesheets by client and task, and review the team's timesheets weekly.
• Close out every task in the work-tracking platform (done, dismissed, or moved), as it is the only work log.
• Store every client login in the password manager, use collaborator access where possible, and remove access when a client leaves.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness and Digital Enablement

• Maintain baseline AI literacy and use approved AI tools responsibly, in line with company policies, data privacy, information security, and client confidentiality obligations.
• Apply sound judgment by validating outputs and avoiding overreliance, ensuring accuracy and accountability in all work delivered.
• Participate in AI readiness trainings and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement through automation and responsible AI integration.
