Job Summary:
The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend applications and databases, while building integrations with external healthcare partners, including hospitals, laboratories, and clinical/diagnostic platforms. The role requires strong experience in Python, databases, AWS, APIs, ETL processes, and secure data integration, with a strong focus on healthcare and sensitive data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend applications using Python, preferably FastAPI.
- Design, develop, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases for clinical, laboratory, and semi-structured data.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, indexes, and database structures.
- Build and integrate REST APIs and external services using clean architecture, SOLID principles, and established design patterns.
- Develop and maintain integrations with hospital, laboratory, EHR/EMR, HIS, and LIS systems using standards such as HL7, FHIR, or DICOM where applicable.
- Build secure file-based integrations using SFTP/FTPS and AWS Transfer Family for automated data exchange.
- Develop Python scripts and ETL processes for data processing, validation, transformation, and normalization.
- Deploy, monitor, and manage applications and databases on AWS, ensuring appropriate security, access controls, encryption, and audit logging.
- Troubleshoot and optimize application, database, and integration performance, including query tuning and resolving data or connectivity issues.
- Maintain data quality, security, backup, and disaster recovery processes for sensitive healthcare data.
- Apply secure coding practices and software development best practices, including Git, code reviews, testing, branching, and CI/CD.
