We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to help us build and operate backend services, developer tooling, and cloud-native solutions for the broader Splunk engineering community. This role requires solid software engineering fundamentals, hands-on backend development experience, familiarity with cloud technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including understanding requirements, designing, developing, testing, automating, deploying, operating, and maintaining software.
• Build reliable backend services, APIs, automation tools, and data processing pipelines.
• Develop and operate solutions using cloud services and cloud-native technologies.
• Partner with engineering teams, repository owners, and platform teams to introduce and improve shared tooling and standards.
• Improve the maintainability, observability, diagnosability, performance, and reliability of the systems owned by the team.
• Investigate and resolve issues affecting development workflows, pre-production environments, and production services.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to diagnose and resolve service and integration issues when needed.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience with solid knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language, with experience building maintainable, well-tested applications or services.
• Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, automation tools, or data pipelines.
