The Trade Finance Lab is undergoing a strategic modernization initiative to redesign its infrastructure, architectural foundations, and engineering practices. We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect with strong hands-on engineering background in Java/J2EE, integration, cloud-native development, DevOps, and proven experience contributing to modernization programmes.
This role will be central to shaping solution design across the Trade Finance ecosystem, defining modern architecture patterns, and guiding engineering teams to build scalable, secure, and future-ready platforms.
Key Responsibilities1. Solution Design & Architecture Delivery:
- Design end-to-end solutions for Trade Finance applications aligned to target architecture and modernization strategy.
- Produce architecture artefacts, solution designs, sequence flows, integration patterns, NFR definitions, and deployment blueprints.
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, cloud-ready technical solutions.
- Ensure all solutions comply with Group architecture standards, security guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
2. Modernization & Technical Enablement:
- Support migration from legacy systems towards API-first, event-driven, microservices-based patterns.
- Contribute to platform uplift initiatives such as containerization, IaC, observability, automated deployments, and standardization.
- Engage with engineering teams to embed best practices, resilience, DR, performance, scalability, and cost-efficient design.
3. Collaboration with Product & Engineering Teams:
- Work with developers, testers, DevOps engineers, and product owners to ensure solution feasibility and delivery alignment.
- Conduct design walkthroughs, participate in PI planning, and provide engineering guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
- Evaluate vendor solutions, participate in PoCs, and assess tools or frameworks required for modernization.
4. Security, Risk & Compliance Alignment:
- Ensure solution designs adhere to security-by-design principles, identity management, secrets handling, encryption, and penetration-test remediation.
- Work with Cyber, Risk, and Security teams to validate controls, risk posture, and adherence to operational processes.
Required Skills & ExperienceTechnical Expertise:
- 8 to 12 years experience in software engineering, solution design, or cloud architecture.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture patterns: API-first, microservices, event-driven, domain-driven design.
