Join a team where teachers never teach alone. As a Special Education Teacher at May Institute, a recognized leader in special education and autism care, you'll lead a classroom for students with autism and developmental disabilities: no ABA experience required, just a passion for every child's potential. You'll deliver individualized, evidence-based instruction, backed by immediate access to BCBAs, speech therapists, OTs, and other specialists, all under one roof and invested in your success.
Why Join Us?

Lead With Purpose: design and deliver Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), translating goals into real, daily classroom instruction and using student data to refine your teaching along the way.
You're Never on Your Own: when you need support, your colleagues show up. BCBAs, speech therapists, OTs, and specialists work alongside you as one team.
Earn Your Master's With Us: study through May's partnerships with local universities alongside fellow May colleagues, with up to full tuition coverage for a Master's in Severe Special Education.
Licensure, Fully Supported: we cover the cost of maintaining your license, with no need to take time off for required coursework, plus MTEL prep support.
A Career That Moves: clear pathways from instructor to lead teacher to clinical and administrative roles, with multiple promotions possible in your first few years.
Work That Rewards You: competitive pay that progresses faster than public schools, protected daily prep time, small class sizes, and no out-of-pocket classroom expenses.
Comprehensive Benefits: generous paid time off, including 10 paid holidays and a floating birthday holiday; medical, dental, and vision coverage; a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match; a dependent care FSA; and confidential support through our Employee Assistance Program. Why May?

A Proven Leader in the Field: for more than 70 years, May Institute has been breaking new ground in special education and transforming lives. You're joining an organization with a long, proven track record, not a startup still figuring things out.
Mentorship That Helps You Grow: learn from experienced BCBAs, clinicians, and administrators, with paid training, certifications, and leadership development that keep you at the forefront of evidence-based practice in special education and ABA.
A Career, Not Just a Classroom: many of our teachers grow into lead teacher, curriculum, and program leadership roles across May's schools.
Impact You Can See: the wins here are small and daily: a skill mastered, a goal met, a family's relief. You'll see it happen in your own classroom.
