Experience in a company that has grown through acquisitions, consolidating disparate infrastructure environments
Full description
We’re looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to anchor our growing SRE/Platform Engineering team. This is a senior technical position, not people management: you lead through execution, mentorship, and architectural ownership.
You’ll independently own SRE projects from problem statement to production, make sound architectural decisions under ambiguity, and raise the bar for the engineers around you. Teammates will look to you for design reviews, debugging escalations, and “how should we approach this?” conversations. You’ll work autonomously while partnering closely with SRE leadership on roadmap, incident response, and platform strategy.
You don’t wait for direction. You spot reliability gaps, propose solutions, build consensus, and ship.
Our environment
Our infrastructure is hybrid, spanning AWS, Azure, and on-prem, managed with Terraform and deployed through modern CI/CD practices.
What you'll do:
Own and deliver SRE projects end-to-end, from scoping and design through implementation, rollout, and documentation
Serve as a technical anchor for the SRE team: run design reviews, pair on complex debugging, and mentor engineers to work through ambiguity independently
Design and operate infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments, making sound tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and cost
Build and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform and similar) with reusable, well-reviewed modules across multiple environments
Lead operations/solutions that may span across cloud and on-prem, including upgrades, capacity planning, networking, and scaling, and turn them into repeatable runbooks and automation
Evolve CI/CD pipelines to reduce manual steps and improve rollback safety
Drive observability improvements so engineering teams can monitor effectively with meaningful dashboards, SLOs, and low-noise alerting
Identify and execute FinOps initiatives across cloud platforms, backed by data
Contribute to database reliability for MySQL, PostgreSQL & MSSQL; including backups, performance, replication, and failover testing
Strengthen security posture through least-privilege access, secrets management, monitoring, and audit readiness across hybrid environments
Troubleshoot complex production issues spanning networking, cloud, compute, on-prem, Kubernetes, and databases, then convert the fix into a runbook or automation
Write documentation the team actually needs: architecture decision records, runbooks, and post-incident action items that get closed
Partner with SRE leadership and engineering teams on incident reviews, migration planning, and platform strategy
Participate in on-call and drive post-incident analysis focused on systemic fixes over individual blame
Staff Site Reliability Engineer at Arcadia (Remote) — aijobsearch
What will help you succeed:
Must-haves:
6+ years in SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering, with a clear progression from task execution to independent project ownership
Hands-on expertise in AWS, Azure, and on-prem infrastructure; able to architect resilient hybrid solutions and explain the tradeoffs
Strong Terraform skills, including multi-environment state management and reviewing others’ IaC
CI/CD design and ownership with a track record of improving deployment reliability
Observability experience, including defining strategies to reduce alert noise.
Strong written and verbal communication; you will present proposals, write documentation others can follow, and work across teams daily
Automation-first mindset with a record of reducing operational toil
Incident management experience, including post-incident reviews that fix the system, not just the symptom
Ability to operate autonomously: propose an approach, pressure-test it with peers, and execute
Nice-to-haves:
FinOps experience across multiple cloud providers
Kubernetes
Mentorship ability, formal or informal (we will ask about this in interviews)
Secrets management experience (e.g., Vault)
Event-driven architecture experience
Exposure to AI-enabled tooling and workflow automation
Experience in a company that has grown through acquisitions, consolidating disparate infrastructure environments
