Substitute Custodial

**Substitute custodians take on janitorial responsibilities when full-time custodians aren't on duty. These are generally part-time positions. The job objective is to ensure that their work setting is tidy, sanitary, presentable and secure for all of the people who frequent it. Purpose: The Substitute Custodian provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment, on an as-needed basis, to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Custodian must work closely with the supervisor, staff and administration.

Responsible To: Director of Buildings and Grounds.Substitute Custodian Salary: 17.00 an hour (as needed and not to exceed 29 hours weekly)Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to read chemical labels.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Able to lift 50lbs

Essential Functions:

• Provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.
• Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as required.
• Support the value of an education.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

• Requires prolonged standing.
• Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a repeated basis throughout a 8 hour shift.
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching.
• Requires climbing and balancing.
• Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
• Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
• Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.**
