Supervisor - Mine Support - UG Rubber Tire & Rail HaulageLocation:
East Boulder - McLeod, MT
Schedule:
7X7 Rotating
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Supervisor - Underground Rubber-Tire & Rail Haulage provides frontline leadership for the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of ore, waste, personnel, supplies, and equipment through the underground haulage system. Reporting to the General Foreman, this position converts the approved one-week plan and General Foreman direction into resource-ready daily shift plans; directs rubber-tire haulage, rail haulage, loading, transfer, and related material-handling activities; verifies travel ways, track, loading and dumping points, communications, and equipment readiness; coordinates priorities with Dispatch, Mine Operations, Maintenance, and Technical Services; controls variance within delegated authority; and promptly escalates constraints or changes that could affect committed work. The Supervisor provides accurate shift information, field feedback, and recovery actions needed by the General Foreman to maintain planning-to-execution alignment, safe traffic flow, equipment utilization, material movement, workforce accountability, and performance against safety, productivity, quality, cost, and reporting expectations.
The Supervisors primary duties are:
- Reinforce Group Minimum Standards, critical controls, lifesaving behaviors, traffic-management rules, rail operating procedures, standard operating procedures, and approved work methods by stopping unsafe work immediately, establishing effective controls with the crew, documenting required follow-up, and escalating recurring or high-consequence deficiencies to the General Foreman.
- Maintain visible field presence each shift across active haulage routes, loading and dumping points, transfer locations, sidings, shops, and work areas while reviewing workplace examinations and pre-operational inspections, verifying safe conditions, and documenting coaching or corrective actions.
- Verify controls for mobile-equipment interaction, rail movement, right-of-way, clearance, speed, parking, chocking, coupling, switching, loading, dumping, backing, pedestrian access, radio communication, and isolation before and during work.
- Identify and control haulage hazards including impaired visibility, congestion, restricted clearances, poor roadway or track conditions, spillage, derailment risk, runaway equipment, fire, ground conditions, ventilation impacts, and loss of communication.
- Control and report incidents and near misses immediately, including contact events, derailments, runaways, material releases, and traffic-control failures.
- Confirm each crew member is trained and qualified for their assigned work by reviewing current qualification records, discussing the assignment and hazards with the employee, observing readiness before work begins, withholding assignments when requirements are not met, and coordinating required task, campaign, procedure, or refresher training with the General Foreman, Safety, and Training.
