Full description
The kit that goes out to exercises has to work the first time. You make sure it does.
A multinational defence organisation in Mons runs deployable communication and information systems:
servers, storage and directory services that are packed up, shipped and switched on wherever they are
needed. It is looking for a senior systems engineer who designs these systems, automates them and is
the person others call when something refuses to behave.
What you would be doing
- Contributing to the design, build and delivery of deployable systems engineering projects
- Working in a DevOps team: continuous integration, change management, automated deployment and monitoring
- Acting as the senior engineer and final problem solver for incidents, requests and problem management
- Supporting the technical planning and running of exercises, on-site or remotely
- Documenting designs, implementations and troubleshooting guides, and training colleagues on the job
- Leading technical support teams on projects and exercises, and standing in for senior staff when needed
What you would bring
- At least 5 years supporting deployable or large enterprise environments
- Centralised storage (FC, iSCSI, SAS) or hyperconverged technology such as vSAN, plus VMware ESXi and vCenter
- Recent Windows Server and Red Hat Linux, high availability (failover clustering, DAGs, stretched clusters) and patching
- Expert Active Directory across federated domains and forests, DNS, server hardening and Group Policy
- Remote Desktop or similar application provisioning
- At least 3 years in a DevOps team with Bash or PowerShell and automation tools, solid TCP/IP and ITIL Service Transition
Why this one is worth a look
Real engineering on systems that leave the data centre, with exercises that most infrastructure
engineers never see.
