About the Role
Prevail Recruiting is partnering with a growing energy hardware company seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to serve as the technical authority behind its customer solutions. Reporting to the Head of Sales & Marketing, you'll work directly with engineering and commercial leadership to translate complex power requirements into properly sized, technically sound solutions across mobile power, backup power, and wind energy systems. This is an engineering-first role—not a traditional sales engineering position focused primarily on presentations and product demos.
Responsibilities
- Personally analyze customer load profiles, power requirements, runtime, fuel consumption, and site constraints to size and configure power systems.
- Build and defend engineering models covering system performance, energy production, operating economics, and technical feasibility.
- Own technical proposals, RFP responses, specifications, application notes, and competitive technical comparisons.
- Lead technical customer discussions, site assessments, product demonstrations, and engineering evaluations.
- Partner with internal engineering teams to validate solutions, resolve technical challenges, and incorporate customer feedback.
- Develop reusable sizing calculators, configuration tools, proposal templates, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
- Help establish the applications engineering function at an innovative energy hardware company transitioning into commercial production.
- You'll have direct influence over customer solutions, product development, and the engineering tools that support growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, power systems engineering, systems engineering, or technical presales supporting physical equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong, hands-on electrical and power-systems expertise, including power generation, load analysis, energy storage, inverters, and system integration.
- Demonstrated experience personally performing system sizing, engineering calculations, and technical modeling—not simply presenting solutions developed by other engineers.
- Ability to confidently explain and defend technical recommendations with customer engineers and translate them into business value.
- Strong technical writing skills and experience independently developing engineering proposals and documentation.
- An entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset and the ability to build tools and processes in a growing organization.
