Full description
XNRGY Climate Systems is a North American leader in the sustainable design and advanced manufacturing of custom air-handling and liquid-cooling systems. With decades of HVAC engineering and manufacturing expertise, XNRGY delivers innovative, energy-efficient solutions for mission-critical industries, including hyperscale and modular data centers, healthcare, life sciences, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer, Service Operations to convert complex engineering knowledge into clear, controlled content for our centrifugal chillers and related liquid-cooling products. This is a true technical-authoring role focused on complex industrial equipment. We are specifically looking for an industrial equipment technical writer with real engineering drawing literacy (P&IDs, electrical schematics, control drawings, equipment submittals) and practical controlled-document experience who will develop and maintain startup procedures, checklists, field records, installation/operation/maintenance (IOM) manuals, service bulletins, and quick-reference materials that field technicians can execute in safety-critical environments.
You will inherit a substantially developed technical library (50 documents), work closely with engineers and technicians, own the controlled-document process, and help establish structured, reusable content that can later support a technician-facing troubleshooting application.
Key Responsibilities
- Author and maintain executable field procedures, checklists, IOM content, service bulletins, and training support materials using clear action verbs, acceptance criteria, and stop-gates.
- Work from engineering drawings, submittals, supplier literature, and interviews with engineers and technicians.
- Maintain the controlled-document system (register, revision control, change notices, approvals, and withdrawal of superseded content).
- Create technical illustrations and design practical field forms usable on paper or tablet.
- Structure reusable content for consistency across channels and future application delivery.
- Observe technicians in factory, test-cell, and customer-site environments and incorporate feedback.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Service Operations, Training, and the application-development team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar (or equivalent trade qualifications + demonstrated engineering-level competence).
- 5+ years authoring procedural, maintenance, service, or IOM documentation for industrial, mechanical, electrical, energy, or comparable complex equipment.
