General Overview:
Perform a wide variety of complex technical assignments, including set up and testing of electronic components; preparation of complex data and reports; perform analysis; research and make recommendations for new testing methods. Plan, develop, and conduct tests on automotive components, products, and systems applying principles of electronic theory, testing methodology, and procedures.
Duties
- Program and operate test equipment; perform specified electrical, mechanical, functional, durability, and Failure Mode Testing; visually evaluate products; and measure products and components with dimensional tools.
- Schedule testing, reserve equipment, collect and clarify test specifications, create test schedules, update status, review test plans before Manager approval, and complete projects and assignments accurately and on time.
- Propose, establish, troubleshoot, and improve measurement and test methods; take at least five measurements and calculate the average; conduct gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies; and recommend measurement-system improvements.
- Check Test-area equipment daily, verify proper operation, correct maintenance issues, maintain equipment according to established procedures, send calibration equipment out by the deadline, and develop preventive maintenance schedules to resolve problems before they occur.
- Support test setup; design, build, or modify test jigs, fixtures, and equipment used to verify products’ dimensional and functional acceptability; review others’ designs; and troubleshoot moderately complex issues and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze, verify, and record test and measurement data using statistical process control; create graphs and charts explaining results; present results in the correct test format; recommend actions; and review results with DE switch or security to recommend design changes that eliminate malfunction causes.
- Interpret complex blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications, and electrical schematics to develop operating instructions; select, install, and calibrate recording equipment and circuitry; and develop specifications for non-standard apparatus from engineering data or characteristics of equipment under listing.
- Work with prototype, quality, and production engineers to facilitate prototype manufacturing; work effectively with departments as PDT members; support audits; and train and lead Technicians and engineers while reviewing their work and test results for accuracy.
- Evaluate potential suppliers; obtain, compare, and evaluate vendor quotes; select vendors; and schedule outside calibration, installation, and maintenance services.
- Perform other assigned duties.
