We believe that by aligning the interests of all parties involved in our programs – distribution partners, MS Transverse, and the reinsurance community – we can deliver outsized results to a market in need of responsible actors with experience and expertise.

Job Description:

For the upcoming summer, we’re looking for Underwriting interns to join us in NYC or Warren, NJ.

At MS Transverse, our internship program offers more than a glimpse into the insurance industry—it’s a hands-on, high-impact experience designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and foster career exploration in a collaborative and growing firm.

We welcome curious, thoughtful interns from a range of academic backgrounds. You’ll gain real-world experience at a hybrid fronting carrier, a rare and valuable opportunity in the insurance space, and be supported every step of the way. As a subsidiary of MSIG, one of the 10 largest property and casualty carriers in the world, we bring the stability of a global enterprise with the agility of a dynamic, evolving team.

What You Can Expect

• End-to-End Business Exposure — Learn about our business model, client partnerships, and the inner workings of a hybrid fronting carrier. While your internship will be anchored within Underwriting, being part of a smaller, fast-growing firm means you’ll have natural visibility into how other teams operate and collaborate. Day to day, you’ll:

• Research and document potential distribution and reinsurance business partners

• Analyze the distribution market to understand how partners fit into the space

• Gain exposure to MST’s business plan and support business development strategy

• Build tools and reports to support business development and management reporting

• Track and evaluate financial trends for weekly and monthly reporting

• Support ad hoc reports and analysis as needed

• Assist with record retention and other duties as assigned

• Structured Onboarding & Ongoing Mentorship — We believe in starting strong. You’ll receive a tailored onboarding experience and ongoing access to supportive managers and mentors throughout your time here.

• Case Study Projects — You’ll complete two key deliverables: a group case study focused on a real-world business scenario, and a department-specific case study aligned with your assigned team. Each project concludes with a professional presentation and Q&A with firm leadership.

• Events & Engagement — Our interns participate in a variety of internal events—from firm-wide learning sessions to cross-functional coffee chats—as well as external engagements that connect you to industry professionals, peer cohorts, and volunteer opportunities that give back to local communities.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• Rising sophomore or junior pursuing a bachelor's degree or pursuing a master’s degree in Risk Management, or a related field

• Curious and eager to learn

• Thoughtful communicator

• Self-starter who thrives in collaborative environments

• Interested in insurance or risk management

• Basic understanding of the insurance industry

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

It's an exciting time for our company and a great opportunity to join a financially sound and growing global insurance group!
