User Experience Designer

Job Title: User Experience Designer

Job Type: Fulltime, Permanent

Job Location: Salford Quays, Manchester

Job ID: 19259

About us:

We’ve just had our tenth birthday, having grown from a little-known tech start-up into a community of 180 people, mostly based in Salford, Greater Manchester. We also have a significant presence in Cheltenham and London.

Our name was chosen as an amalgamation of two Japanese words, to reflect our ethos:

This principle applies to every aspect of our organisation from technology, process and infrastructure, through to people, culture and leadership. People and culture are at the heart of Naimuri, so that collectively, we can realise our mission of making the UK a safer place to be.

We work in an Agile-first environment that values transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. While every team has its own rhythm, you can expect:

• A Culture of Enablement: Our goal is to remove blockers. You'll be empowered to make decisions and given the tools you need to get things done.

• Focus on Quality: We take pride in our work. You'll be part of a culture that values well-researched, user-centred designs and flows, and your work will serve as a "definitive example" for others.

• Active Collaboration: You'll work closely with Users, Product Owners and Software Engineers, championing the user experience throughout the design and development lifecycle and ensuring design solutions are viable.

At Naimuri, we work on a variety of projects that range in length from a few weeks to 5+ years. Here are some things we’ve worked on recently that give a sense of the work we do:

• Building a data analytics tool

• A DevOps platform to support 3000 users.

• Processing digital forensic data to enable search and insight generation.

• A search and reporting system

• A custom workflow tool

• An AI assurance capability

About the Role:

The User Experience Designer role is part of ACDC, an internal capability comprising Business Analysts, Business Change Managers, User Researchers, and User Experience Designers. The ACDC team's collective mission is to support all Naimuri delivery projects by delivering tangible and measurable value to customers, ensuring a clear understanding of the users challenge and requirements, and applying an intentional approach to designing, testing, and refining the user experience.

As a User Experience Designer at Naimuri, you will have the support to work on and deliver large tasks and projects with guidance from team members. You will take ownership of design tasks and actively enable the team through your growing expertise.

We'll look to you to:

• Champion user-centred design, proactively applying multiple tools and methodologies to anticipate and tackle design blockers.

• Act as a skill or knowledge expert in a specific design discipline (e.g., accessibility, interaction design) for your team and the wider business, including upskilling others.

• Lead discovery workshops with users to help capture product feedback, and support user research.

• Create dynamic wireframes using Figma, reflecting UX design principles, and then confidently present these to customers to articulate your ideas.

• Translate concepts into prototypes and improve designs from user feedback or evaluation.

• Evaluate and recommend multiple design options, taking into account performance, security, usability and accessibility requirements.

If the following describes the way you work, then I’d really like to speak to you:

• You enjoy breaking down ambiguous user problems into concrete, validated design solutions and user stories, and take pride in implementing a high-quality solution.

• You champion user needs and instigate collaboration with product, engineering, and stakeholders to enable successful, user-friendly delivery.

• You are comfortable challenging the status quo and look for ways to improve processes, user-facing products and design systems, and team efficiency.

Learning and Progression at Naimuri:

Continuous Personal Development, or Personal Kaizen, is a core part of Naimuri's culture, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to develop in a transparent and supportive environment.

• You will be assigned a Mentor, usually outside of your team, who can help guide and support you on your development journey.

• Naimuri actively encourages training, through internal knowledge sharing and external courses. You are empowered to identify and pursue opportunities for further training.

• Progression Framework: The framework recognizes that continuous personal development drives greater proficiency and depth in skills, roles, knowledge, or leadership. It provides a clear direction for growth and reinforces achievements that support your Personal Kaizen.

Pay and benefits:

Naimuri pays competitively within the industry based on your role's base location rates. The salary for this position is dependent upon your experience. We assess seniority relative to the team at Naimuri during the interviewing process. A full time working week is 37.5 hours and you have flexibility over when you give that time. We also offer part-time working which can be discussed during the recruitment process. Our core hours are 10:00am - 3:00pm and our office is open between 7:30 - 18:00, Monday to Friday.

Most teams have agreed ‘in office’ days to enable collaboration. Depending on the project, you may also be required to travel to a local customer site or occasionally to other locations in the UK.

Benefits include:

• Flexible/Hybrid working options

• Performance bonus

• Company bonus

• Pension matched 1.5x up to 10.5%

• AXA group 1 medical cover

• Holiday purchase/buy-back scheme

• Cycle to work scheme

• Car benefit scheme

Recruitment Process:

We are committed to building an inclusive, safe and supportive environment that allows everyone to do their best work, so we strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We can of course support any accessibility or neurodiversity requirements that you may need during the recruitment process. We want to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident when interviewing with us.
