Position Summary

The Andersons is seeking a dynamic, growth-minded executive to lead our plant nutrient businesses and shape an integrated strategy across wholesale nutrients, specialty nutrients, and agronomy. This is a high-impact opportunity for an accomplished commercial leader who understands the plant nutrient value chain, sees the potential of evolving farm-direct models, and can unite distinct businesses around a shared vision for customers, employees, and long-term value creation.

As a member of the Agribusiness leadership team, the Vice President, Plant Nutrients will have enterprise-level responsibility for commercial strategy and performance across three complementary segments. The leader will align sales, marketing, merchandising, commodity risk management, planning, and commercial support activities while partnering closely with operations on asset strategy, capital planning, safe execution, and growth. The role is designed to accelerate integration, strengthen our go-to-market approach, unlock efficiencies, and position the business to serve customers more effectively as the market evolves.

What You Will Lead

• Set and execute an integrated plant nutrient strategy across wholesale nutrients, specialty nutrients, and agronomy, translating enterprise priorities into clear growth plans and measurable results.
• Lead the commercial agenda, including go-to-market strategy, sales effectiveness, product and service offerings, customer segmentation, supplier positioning, merchandising, and commercial planning.
• Advance a coordinated farm-direct approach that connects farm centers, wholesale capabilities, specialty liquids, and agronomy solutions around changing customer needs.
• Provide executive oversight and decision support for commodity risk management, including futures, spreads, market opportunities, and customer risk-management products and strategies.
• Identify and capture efficiencies across the portfolio by aligning sales, planning, risk management, merchandising, and commercial support capabilities.
• Partner with operations leadership on asset strategy, capital investment, operational priorities, safe execution, and the capabilities required to support profitable growth.
• Develop long-range strategic goals and annual business plans; establish performance expectations and ensure disciplined execution against financial, market-share, customer, and employee objectives.
• Build a high-performing, collaborative leadership team by coaching leaders, developing succession depth, and mobilizing talent across the organization.
• Evaluate organic growth, partnerships, and merger-and-acquisition opportunities that strengthen the portfolio and advance the plant nutrient strategy.
• Foster a commercial culture that balances stakeholder needs, challenges established ways of working, and consistently contributes to earnings and shareholder value.

The Leadership Opportunity

• Unify historically independent businesses around one enterprise-wide plant nutrient strategy and operating rhythm.
• Bring an external perspective and deep market expertise to a business where The Andersons intends to grow and invest.
• Create a differentiated go-to-market model across three segments while preserving the strengths and customer relationships within each business.
• Leverage people, capabilities, information, and resources across the organization to improve speed, coordination, and decision quality.
• Lead through senior leaders and influence broadly across Agribusiness and the enterprise, with accountability for a large and strategically important portfolio.

What You Bring

• Significant executive leadership experience in plant nutrients, fertilizer, agronomy, agricultural inputs, commodity merchandising, or a closely related sector.
• Demonstrated success leading multiple businesses, segments, or commercial functions through integration, transformation, and profitable growth.
• Deep understanding of the plant nutrient value chain, market dynamics, customer economics, supplier relationships, commodity exposure, and risk-management practices.
• A record of developing and executing enterprise strategy, translating market insight into investment choices, operating priorities, and commercial results.
• Experience building effective go-to-market models and aligning sales, marketing, merchandising, planning, operations, and support functions.
• Strong financial and business acumen, including ownership of business performance and the ability to balance growth, risk, capital, and return.
• Exceptional ability to influence across organizational boundaries, align diverse stakeholders, and lead through senior leaders.
• A people-centered leadership approach marked by clear expectations, talent development, accountability, collaboration, and engagement.
