Skills
Must have
- Strong, hands-on expertise in 3GPP LTE/NR with a clear RAN focus (L1/L2/L3 procedures, scheduling, mobility, bearers, signaling flows, performance metrics)
- Proven track record of professional software engineering excellence (typically 8+ years)
- Strong coding skills in C/C++ and/or modern Python for automation/tooling
- Comfortable in Linux development environments
- Proven ability to debug distributed/real-time systems: logs, traces, protocol analyzers, KPIs, timing, performance bottlenecks
- Exceptional technical communication in English (written and verbal)
Nice to have
- Experience with RAN product development (gNB/eNB), RAN performance optimization, or feature verification in complex system environments
- Familiarity with O-RAN architecture/interfaces (O-RU/O-DU/O-CU, fronthaul, RIC concepts) and multi-vendor integration challenges
- Experience with CI/CD, test frameworks, containers, and/or cloud-based deployment environments
- Prior exposure to standards work (3GPP RAN1/2/4/5) or strong experience implementing features directly from evolving specs

Keysight is seeking an exceptional RAN-focused wireless software engineer with deep 3GPP expertise to architect and advance cutting-edge test, emulation, and validation solutions that power innovation across the entire wireless ecosystem— from devices and chipsets to network infrastructure and Open RAN. You’ll work close to standards and real implementations, translating specifications into robust software capabilities that enable customers to validate conformance, interoperability, and performance across the RAN lifecycle.
This is an ideal opportunity for a thought leader from a leading RAN organization who thrives at the intersection of 3GPP specs, real network behavior, and high-quality software— where you'll have direct influence on industry standards and real-world wireless innovation.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do
- Architect and deliver sophisticated software capabilities aligned to 3GPP LTE/NR (e.g., RRC, PDCP/RLC/MAC, PHY interactions, procedures, state machines, timers, KPI/measurement semantics) that set new standards for performance and reliability.
- Transform evolving requirements (3GPP releases, operator acceptance needs, O‑RAN priorities) into elegant software designs, robust test workflows, and reusable components that define best practices across the industry.
- Engineer and lead sophisticated automation and tooling for protocol conformance, interoperability, and performance validation across complex RAN-facing scenarios that solve real-world deployment challenges.
- Partner with world‑class cross‑functional experts (systems, RF, protocol, product, customers/partners) to rapidly reproduce field issues, uncover root causes in complex behaviors, and deliver elegant solutions with deep technical rigor.
- Produce high‑impact technical artifacts—design docs, test plans, trace/pcap interpretations, and technical notes that withstand rigorous review from industry‑leading telecom engineers and become reference materials for the field.
